Divine Word College has changed dramatically since my own student days in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The most obvious change is in the ethnic composition of our student body. Once a largely Anglo American population with a significant African American minority, we are today a largely Vietnamese American population with strong international representation. Another important change has taken place in our curriculum. What was previously a rather generic undergraduate curriculum has given way to a more focused preparation for cross-cultural, missionary service. A third important change is in our approach to seminary formation. While still a distinct program within the College, formation themes now receive more regular attention within academic courses when appropriate. Thoughtful attempts to integrate academics and seminary formation offer our students a holistic preparation for the future challenges of religious, missionary life.

Constant in our Divine Word College programs over the past forty years has been the enthusiasm of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and benefactors for the education of men and women considering lives of missionary service through the Catholic Church. Together we recognize our responsibility to help young people discern God’s call, achieve the personal freedom and generosity to give themselves to the work of God’s Kingdom, and to acquire the critical skills necessary for contemporary religious, cross-cultural living.

I hope you will take a few moments to browse through our website to learn more about the special academic and formation opportunities Divine Word College offers. We will be more than happy to respond to any inquiries about our programs.
