For 15 years, Dr. Steven Bradley of Cascade, Iowa, has quietly offered his time and talent as a dentist to priests, brothers and students at Divine Word College. For his consistent kindness over the years, the college honored him with the Donaghey Award for Outstanding Service during Mass and brunch on Sunday, September 30.

“Dr. Bradley deserves this award and I am so pleased he is the recipient,” said Fr. Tim Lenchak, SVD, president of Divine Word College. He certainly has had a long relationship with the college and it is fitting that his commitment is recognized in this way.
Since 1997, Dr. Bradley has provided discounted—and sometimes free—dental care for members of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) as well as needy students through his office, Cascade Dental Center. His connection to the college began in the 1960s, growing up near the campus in Epworth, where he spent many hours swimming in its pool, playing sports and even learning how to play the drums.
“I grew up at Divine Word. The SVD helped me grow up,” Dr. Bradley said. “I owe the seminary so much and I feel humble that they are giving this award.”
The award is named in honor of Fr. John Donaghey, SVD, who dedicated much of his life to Divine Word, first as an instructor and later as Dean of Students, Vice President of Academic Affairs, President, and longtime member of the Board of Trustees. The award was established in 1999 to honor those who have shown a long-term commitment to DWC. Since then, 26 individuals
have been presented with the award.
