After three years at Divine Word College in Epworth, he graduated and moved on to do a year of novitiate at the SVD Novitiate in Techny, Illinois.  Father Thang’s first missionary experience came during his formation in the Cross-Cultural Program (CTP) during which he spent two years in Paraguay and  Argentina. While in South America, he worked with the youth group and managed a soup kitchen for the poor.  He professed his perpetual vows as a member of the Society of the Divine Word in 2003.
