Biography

I am currently a semi-retired Professor in Counseling Psychology at Divine Word College.  I have held both administrative and instructional positions since August of 1993. Born in Elkhorn, Wisconsin and lived my early years in Eagleville, Wisconsin (Mukwonago, WI. address).  My parents were tavern owners for approximately 25 years at the Eagleville location.

I began my association with the Society of the Divine Word as a high school student in 1961 at Divine Word Seminary, East Troy, WI. My first vows as an SVD were at Bay St. Louis, MI on Aug. 29, 1970, final vows on Sept. 15, 1973 at Villa St. Thomas, Maranisco, Michigan and was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest for the Society of the Divine Word, at Holy Spirit Chapel, Divine Word Seminary, Techny, IL.  Dec. 15, 1973, by Rev. Michael R. Dempsey, D.D., Aux. Bishop of Chicago.

Over the years I have held numerous professional leadership positions such as:

Secretary/Treasurer, State Chapter for Chi Sigma Iota, Beta Alpha:  National Counseling Honor Society, Northern Arizona University.  1990 - 1991.

President, Association for Religious and Value Issues in Counseling, (ARVIC) a Division the American Association for Counseling and Development (AACD) now called the  American Counseling Association (ACA).

              President Elect - 1984 - 1985.
              President - 1985 - 1986
              Past President - 1986 - 1987

President, Wisconsin Association for Counseling and Development (WACD) now called the Wisconsin  Counseling Association.

              President Elect - 1983.

              Past President - 1985.

Visiting professor at The University of New Orleans (2004) and Old Dominion University (2011).
