Bring your college credits with you!

Transferring credits from other American colleges and universities is possible as long as they meet certain criteria. Divine Word College (DWC) is an accredited institution of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and follows its guidelines for accepting credits from other accredited institutions. Please note, DWC does not accept transfer credits from educational institutions outside the United States.

It is best to request a transfer of credits when you are admitted to the college. When that is not possible, the Registrar can advise you on how to proceed. Each request for a transfer of credit is decided on a case-by-case basis.

When requesting the transfer of credits for a course you feel matches a course at Divine Word College, please provide a course description and/or syllabi. DWC reserves the right to decide if the course meets our level of quality and is equivalent to the specifics of the DWC course. Typically, courses completed with a C-minus or above, as well as Advanced Placement (AP) and College Level Examination Program (CLEP) credits, are transferable.

If the course you request does not match well with the required course at DWC, its credits may apply toward elective credits in either the Core Curriculum or one of the degree programs. Credits that transfer but cannot be applied to the Core Curriculum or a degree program, may be applied to general elective credits.

If your previous course is partially equivalent to the DWC course, part of the credits may apply to the Core Curriculum or degree program, with the rest going toward general elective credits.

Consult our College Catalog for more information on transfer credits.
