Library Director & Archivist
Elizabeth Winter has been a part of the DWC community since Spring 2020. Elizabeth currently serves as the Library Director and Archivist overseeing library and archives operations, participating in shared governance, and providing information literacy instruction. Elizabeth brings over a decade of experience in libraries and archives. Previous experience includes public library work in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; internships at archival institutions such as Washington University Special Collections, Archdiocese of St. Louis, State Historical Society of Missouri, and St. Louis Visitation Academy Archives; and full-time archival work at the State Historical Society of Missouri. Elizabeth is actively involved in professional service, currently serving as President of the Dubuque Area Library Information Consortium and on the editorial board of Archival Issues. Additional contributions include leadership roles in the Iowa Library Association and participation in local initiatives such as the Dubuque County Reads Program and the Dubuque Area History Expo. A strong advocate for access, collaboration, and community engagement, Elizabeth continues to support innovation and equity in library services.

Studied abroad in Cusco, Peru, with a focus on Andean history and contemporary Peruvian politics. Undergraduate coursework emphasized world history, including classes on Chinese, Russian, Middle Eastern, European, and South American history, as well as international conflicts such as the Wars in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. International travel includes visits to the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Romania, Mexico, and Canada. These experiences contribute to a broad intercultural perspective that informs professional practice in library and archival settings, particularly within the diverse environment of Divine Word College.
