Business Office Director & Controller Full-Time

 

Divine Word College is accepting applications for the full-time position of Business Office Director & Controller. The Business Office Director & Controller is an at-will employee of Divine Word College effectively managing all accounting processes, systems and records, and financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). In addition, the Director/Controller reports to and works closely with the Vice President of Operations & Finance on all accounting and operational matters and is responsible for the annual College budget. The position requires an ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and to work collaboratively.
 

Primary Responsibilities
include: 

 
 

Manages the accounting function of the College:

  • Balances and maintains all accounting records and closes the books in a timely manner
  • Prepares and submits all necessary reports to government agencies, associations, grantors or other appropriate private organizations, including all corporation reports and 5500 forms for retirement (TIAA)
  • Collaborates closely the Vice President for Operations & Finance, Admissions Office and Development Office, and reports significant changes as soon as recognized
 
 

Processes Banking Operations:

  • Receives funds and makes deposits; disburses funds to meet regular obligations
  • Oversees the investment of excess funds on short-term basis
  • Makes appropriate journal entries and prepares monthly balance reports

 

Directs all Business Office activities:

  • Oversees College payroll, accounts payable, and keeps accurate records of revenues and expenses
  • Processes student accounts, including medical, tuition and other charges
  • Keeps property, plant, and equipment valuations up to date
  • Manages insurance claims as needed
  • Tracks restricted funds as received and released
  • Oversees front desk services
  • Manages the Business Office team, substituting as needed
   
Qualifications Include:
  • A CPA or master of accounting degree required
  • Experience in non-profits, education, and taxes is desired
  • High standard of collaboration and communication
  • Proven experience of managing a busy office environment and managing office staff
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Quicken, Business Office software (MIP Fund Accounting), etc.)
  • Financial, accounting, and analytical skills
